Keeping a distance

Now that Tulip has been on the kitty Prozac for a while, the effects have waned a little bit. She is still a lot calmer, and still a lot less punky. But the punk flares up more so than it did initially. I guess that’s okay. Better to have her mischievous than just plain rotten. Also better to have her mischievous than exhibiting no personality at all.

With her current state in mind, Moo is slightly less enthusiastic about being around Tulip. I guess that’s OK. Moo doesn’t seem to be afraid of her or particularly bothered by her. The just seem to be agreeing to keep a distance from one another for the most part. I still keep hoping they’ll grow attached to each other.

In any case, Moo is continuing to be on good bathroom behavior. We ran out of the clay litter so I switched her box back to the Swheat litter tonight. Hopefully that will pan out OK. The box seems to stink a whole lot less with the Swheat. I’m really hoping she’ll continue to use it. So far so good.

Makes me smile

I can’t tell you how much it makes me smile to look over and see this laying on my desk:

Tulip’s literally right next to me while I work.  She seems to really like this spot a lot.  She gets a little breeze and lots of sun from the window right behind her.  The best part is that she just comes up and makes herself at home in that little bed now.  If I’m on here in the morning, she’s there.  If I have to work in the middle of the night, she’s there.  My little Tabletop Tiger.  Sometimes I can even get away with petting her.

And of course, not to be outdone:

Snuggles

Since Tulip has been on the kitty Prozac, she’s become more interested in trying to get close to Miracle.  Moo doesn’t mind, as long as Tulip’s not too aggressive about it.  Tulip seems to be beginning to understand this, so lately she’s been sidling up to Moo until she’s right up against her.  Here they are having some snuggles in bed this morning (where they still are right now).

Tulip just works her way right up to Moo, sniffs her, listens to her, and sometimes stretches a paw out to see exactly where she is.  Moo is particularly impressed with the idea, but she usually tolerates it.  I’m just happy to see them relax around each other a little bit.

Ew!

I think I probably mentioned before that we switched to using Swheat Scoop wheat kitty litter a while back.  I like it because it doesn’t smell like much of anything, it’s less dusty than the Feline Pine, and it clumps nicely.  Tulip doesn’t mind it, but Moo doesn’t seem to care for it.  Her litterbox has clay litter in it instead.

Anyway, I was in the bathroom yesterday and Moo came strolling in to see what I was up to.  After she poked around the room a bit, she walked over to Tulip’s litterbox.  She stuck her face in there and started nibbling on the wheat litter.  Ew!  That’s not Cream of Wheat, Moo!  Eve has seen her do it a couple of times too.  Crazy cat!  Note to self: no more kisses from Moo…

More updates

Things are perpetually busy, but I wanted to post a few more updates about the kitties.

Tulip is doing well on her kitty Prozac.  Her energy is back to normal now, and so is just a touch of her punkiness.  She does mess with Moo every now and then, but at least it’s not constant.  It’s also not nearly as aggressive as before.  Mostly she just sticks a paw out to touch Moo when she walks by.

Moomoo seems to be doing well too.  She has been using the litterbox faithfully (thank goodness).  She still seems relaxed, even when Tulip is around her.  She is a big love bug, and likes to tempt us into staying in bed to snuggle with her in the mornings.

Both cats like to follow us around/hang around us, but they seem to agree to leave each other alone for the most part.  I can live with that.  When I break out the toys to play with Moo, Tulip wants to join in.  Moo’s not a big fan of that idea, so she usually walks away and waits for the toys to fly her way.  I would love to see the two of them learn to trust each other and become the best of friends.  Hopefully they’ll get there some day.  In the mean time, it’s nice to be able to have them both under the same roof.
