Below are some of our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question answered below, please feel free to contact us. We’ll try to answer as best we can.
Are Tulip and Miracle related?
No. We refer to them as sisters, but they’re actually unrelated.
Did you adopt them at the same time?
No. We had Tulip for approximately 1 year before we adopted Miracle.
Aren’t blind cats difficult to care for?
Not really. We were fortunate that both cats already had their eye surgeries before they came to us. When we adopted them they were both healthy and ready for a permanent home. As far as day-to-day care goes, they’re not any more difficult to care for than sighted cats.
How do they find their way around?
Quite well, actually! When each first arrived at our home, they spent the first several hours exploring their new environment. Interestingly, they both seemed to use a similar technique. They started off down one wall and eventually made their way around the entire house. The bumped into and tripped over everything in their paths. And they quickly seemed to memorize where everything was. Occasionally they’ll get disoriented and bump into a wall or piece of furniture. But you’d be surprised at how well they know the layout of every item in the house. If anything is out of place or something new arrives they spot it immediately.
Do they bump into things a lot?
They bump into walls, furniture, each other, etc. all the time. But it’s usually when they’re excited or startled by something. During both play and a good scare they seem to have bouts of “run now, ask questions later”. So they just start running without thinking about where they are. But believe us, they know where things are. They’re both skilled at running full speed down the hallway and turning left into the kitchen without knocking so much as a hair out of place at meal time.
